The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Gloucestershire would like to hear your views about your perceptions of crime in Gloucestershire. This feedback will be used to inform the OPCC’s work to make Gloucestershire safer.

The Forest of Dean District Council held an online workshop for all the Parish and Town Councils in the Borough on the 7th October 2020. They confirmed the important role both can play in encouraging their communities to reduce carbon emissions and to help the Forest reach carbon neutrality by 2030.

We often think of climate change as something that will happen long into the future caused largely by activities from the industrial revolution. Neither is true. Over half the increase in carbon in our atmosphere has been emitted in the last 25 years and climate change is now affecting our lives. If our children and grand-children are to avoid catastrophic climate change it is the responsibility of our generation to start moving to zero carbon.
Whilst the UK has made a good start in that direction the easy wins have already been made. The next 52% of emission reductions now need to be achieved by all of use changing our behaviours and adopting low carbon options for the supply of our heat , power, transport and food. All these changes can save money for our businesses and our home budgets. Government grants are now available and we hope as a Parish Council to highlight these opportunities through a series of online webinars over the winter months.

Tim Gwilliam, Leader of the Forest of Dean District Council, has recently written to all Parish Councils with views on the covid-19 pandemic projections over the winter 2020/21. He paints a gloomy picture both in terms of the next phase of the pandemic and about its economic consequences and highlights that this winter the Forest of Dean will continue to support local communities and will promote :
We have been fortunate so far in both the Forest of Dean and in Kempley that cases of covid-19 have been at a low level. Case numbers have however been rising in Worcestershire and across Gloucestershire (see below) so this is no time to lower our guard in Kempley. The Kempley Parish Council Emergency Response procedures remain in force and I would urge everyone in the village to follow the National Guidelines and keep our village safe over the winter

In Kempley we still have in place our volunteer emergency co-ordinators with whom you can raise any issues of concern, our local food producers who will deliver to your home, collection arrangements for prescriptions if you need to self-isolate this winter or are shielding. We are also encouraging everyone in the village to download the NHS Covid-19 contact tracing App https://www.nhs.uk/apps-library/nhs-covid-19/ and the Kings College London covid-19 symptom tracker APP https://covid.joinzoe.com. The symptom tracker APP will give you the latest predicted number of cases in the
Forest of Dean. This APP is now supported by the Government and by both Herefordshire and Gloucestershire County Councils and will give you the latest and most up to date information on the disease in our local area.
